Hope Station Youth Leadership Program
A school year based program that helps young people (9th graders) to experience the opportunities and options that await them in the adult world. While participating in structured activities, they develop leadership skills and goal setting skills that can be adapted to help them grow in community awareness and community involvement. The program includes hands on experience to
support students in applying their newly enhanced skills. The outcome of this program is to assist young people in developing a knowledge base that allows them to become effective leaders in their schools and communities. We do this by introducing day long seminars focusing on communication, problem solving and leadership activities within a defined curriculum that involves a community base learning experience for our students.
H.I.R.E PLUS: Helping Individuals Retain Employment
Helping Individuals Retain Employment, also known as H.I.R.E, is a program with the purpose of helping individuals improve employment options with instruction regarding employment retention, personal marketing, and building basic computer skills needed to acquire or maintain jobs of interest. H.I.R.E is an essential program because it caters to individuals that may not otherwise be exposed to job search assistance or various employment opportunities.
In addition, H.I.R.E PLUS offers a six week employment skills course focused primarily on developing computer skills, Mondays to Thursdays from Nine A.M. to Noon for qualifying individuals. Program requirements include, participants having the capability to type fifteen words per minute and the ownership of a high school diploma. Individuals without a high school diploma are not turned away, but are instead referred to the Employment Skills Center to earn a GED.
H.I.R.E covers a variety of topics in the skills course including, job interview secrets, tips on improving individual resumes, how to write eye catching cover letters, advice on job applications, improving computer program proficiency, setting up computer hardware, using the internet efficiently, setting up email accounts, installing windows application, conflict resolution skills and lastly instructions for Microsoft programs.
Why is H.I.R.E PLUS such a must? Well, the answer is really quite simple, H.I.R.E. PLUS gives high school graduates the confidence and encouragement needed to survive in today's competitive job market. In addition, it helps graduates become more appealing job candidates and it helps them find employment that is best suited to their qualifications.

Cub Scouts & Girl Scouts
Through its Cub Scout & Girl Scout programs, Hope Station is helping to provide children in the Carlisle area with stronger self-esteem, positive feelings of accomplishment and interaction with strong role models. This year, it starts with Dickinson College students and neighborhood adult leaders.
The mission of Scouting programs is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law. The Scouts meet on Wednesdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
